Dragon Quest X Headed to Wii and Wii U

Dragon Quest X Details

Square-Enix announced today that their latest game in the Dragon Quest series, Dragon Quest X, will be coming to Wii, as well as Nintendo’s upcoming console, Wii U. The developer has stated that the game is an online RPG, though you can beat the game in full on your own with the help of NPC characters. Dragon Quest X will feature a changeable job system, customizable housing, character skill points, and a ton of quests for players to complete.

Square-Enix also said that a Wii U version of the game is currently in development, and will take advantage of the system’s more powerful hardware. Players who create characters on the Wii version of the game will be able to interact in the same world with those who decide to wait for the Wii U version. Save files from Wii will be transferable over to the Wii U so that players can continue their journey once the superior iteration is released. The developers are considering the idea of including the ability to wirelessly send character(s) to a Nintendo 3DS, in order to make use of Streetpass. Streetpass is a feature on the Nintendo 3DS that allows 3DS units to communicate with each other while their owners pass one another on a street, bus, etc.

Though major details are unclear at this point, a beta for Dragon Quest X has been confirmed. Players will need a USB storage device to participate in the beta; at the same time, it will set up the potential for DLC and patches. The title will support a number of popular input options, including: Wiimote and Nunchuk, Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro, and a USB keyboard.

Dragon Quest X Release Date

Dragon Quest X is currently set to launch for the Nintendo Wii sometime next year. The Wii U version of the game has been given a date of TBA. More details about the game, as well as the beta, will be available soon. We will be sure to update this post if any future developments arise.

Spider-Man: Edge of Time feat. Christopher Daniel Barnes

Activision and Beenox have released a new trailer for their upcoming video game, Spider-Man: Edge of Time. The trailer features a look at Christopher Daniel Barnes, who does the voice work for Spider-Man 2099. Spider-Man: Edge of Time is scheduled to be released on October 4th, 2011. More details about the game itself can be found below.

Developed by Activision-owned studio Beenox, Spider-Man: Edge of Time challenges the player to take on the roles of both classic Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099 to correct a timestream gone awry and prevent a catastrophic future brought on by the early and untimely death of Peter Parker.

Spider-Man: Edge of Time is a focused, action-packed adventure set in two connected and evolving timelines, from the contemporary times of the Amazing Spider-Man to the corrupted future world of Spider-Man 2099, against the backdrop of a rich, tightly crafted narrative by acclaimed Marvel veteran Peter David (co-creator of the comic book series Spider-Man 2099).  The game features all-new “cause-and-effect” gameplay, where players will see how the immediate and sometimes unexpected effects of their actions as one Spider-Man changes the timeline of the other Spider-Man.
