States was formed in 2010 after indie bands Lydia and Copeland initially dissolved. Mindy White (former Lydia) formed a super group of sorts with Bryan and Stephen Laurenson, Jonathon Bucklew (former Copeland), and Dean Lorenz.

States first EP, Line Em Up, is available now.

Jack’s Mannequin Announces New Album, Tour Dates

Alternative-rock band Jack’s Mannequin have announced the title and release date for their first album in over three years. Their third CD, entitled “People and Things,” will be available on store shelves on October 4th, 2011. Andrew McMahon and company have also announced plans for a supporting tour that begins on October 6th in Hartford, CT and ends on November 12th in Pomona, CA. Full tour dates can be seen here. When talking about the album in an article with AbsolutePunk.net, McMahon stated that he “consider[s] ‘People and Things’ a relationship record.” He went on to say that “following the last Jack’s album the people in my world were moving in together, getting married, trying to find quote unquote ‘real jobs’ and reconciling new lives that looked a lot less like youth than some of us cared for.” The album’s first single, “My Racing Thoughts,” was released today on iTunes– download it here. There are also several pre-order packages available.
